Tom Platz, a.k.a Quadfather is a prodigy in the ruthless realm of bodybuilding. His generosity and artistry as a bodybuilder made him the Golden Eagle of the golden age of bodybuilding in the 60s and 70s. In a sport, wherein rivalry is just the run-of-the-mill, he pleased all his competitors, and still after getting retired from the sport, Tom expresses his gratitude towards his fellow bodybuilders through the stories that he narrates to his fans, fitness enthusiasts, and bodybuilders via his YouTube channel. 

Recently, Tom Platz went online elaborating that bodybuilding has given him a life, and exaggerating how important bodybuilding is for him. The Quadfather expressed his indebtedness to his career and fellow bodybuilders, cherishing the happy moments he spent in the gym.

Tom Platz initiated the YT short by saying, “It’s been like a mob, once you’re in the mob, you’re in it for life, and that’s bodybuilding for me.” As everyone commenced from somewhere, for Tom, that moment was when he came face to face with Joe Gold. Tom Platz couldn’t afford a Gold gym membership on the days when he was hustling as a bodybuilder. However, after getting crowned as Mr. Universe, he got a call from the owner of Gold Gym, Joe Gold, and he offered Platz a lifetime membership in his gym without even paying a dime. It was the first time he met Arnold Schwarzenegger, Frank Zane, and other prominent bodybuilders. 

“Bodybuilding has given me, bodybuilding has given me a lot. Without bodybuilding, I would have been some homeless guy in Detroit.” The portrayal of Frank Zane, who helped the Quadfather when he was on a Tuna diet for two consecutive months. The God of aesthetics said, “Now that you’re Mr. Universe, you should charge no less than $3000 to go somewhere.” Surprisingly, this advice transformed the life of Tom Platz.

Bodybuilding has been good to me financially, mentally, spiritually, physically. I learned about life in the gym. Everything I know, I learnt from the squat rack. I learned how to fail in the gym, I learned how to fail and fall on my face many times, you would read about,” says the Quadfather sharing his episodes in the gym. Tom was prominent then, and he is reverent now, admired by every bodybuilder in the history of bodybuilding.

The bodybuilding fraternity acclaim the Quadfather

Known and avowed for his 30 inches maxed quadriceps, one of his fans said, This man is so smart. His brain is actually bigger than his legs. . . Imagine that!” One other comment on his YouTube shorts said, “Instead of murdering people you murder muscles.”

Tom’s videos are a quick reminder that ‘old school’ is not just a word. It was a golden age, and no matter how many modern technologies emerge, the techniques defined by our idols can never be replaced. Even at the age of 67, the Quadfather has an exceptional physique and his quadriceps are irreplaceable.
