Even though Tom Platz was known for his incredible physique during the golden age of bodybuilding, he confessed that his arms and back were his weakest areas when it came to training. Later in the video, he shared that he took inspiration from bodybuilding legend Robby Robinson and revealed his secrets behind developing such a monstrous back following Robinson’s techniques.

I would watch Robby Robinson when he is doing seated cable rows in the gym I stop and watch,” Platz revealed, the secret of his incredible muscles and how he watched Robinson in the gym and learned a lot just from observing his technique. Further, he mentioned how Robinson was a perfectionist when it came to back exercises like seated cable rows and T-bar rows. Platz also highlighted Robinson’s commitment and devotion to his exercise.

He added that he concentrated on mimicking Robinson’s techniques and used less weight to refine his technique. Platz emphasized using his fingers to fine-tune each movement, aiming for perfection like Robinson. He mentioned that this dedication to detail and finesse became his approach as he worked towards mastery in the gym, inspired by Robinson.

Platz noted that Robinson had a habit of cocking his wrist during exercise, a detail he had observed over years of observation. He remarked,” He doesn’t know he does this but I watched him for years.” He credited Robinson’s technique for his muscle growth, which required extra focus.
