In the last few years, social media has become a part of our daily existence, dictating our mindset and behavior. The Internet has blurred the lines between private and public. One does many things for virality or instant fame. Gym culture is not immune to this trend. Social media allows us to witness a certain disregard for gym manners, and influencers like Joey Swoll are trying to stop this trend. However, it is not easy to be the CEO of gym positivity.
Fitness influencer Joey Swoll appeared on ‘Straight Outta The Lair,’ hosted by Flex Lewis. The podcast discussed various aspects of the bodybuilder‘s life. Swoll made a startling revelation about the psychological stress it causes to carry the burden of spreading “awareness” about gym etiquette.

If anyone is troubled by gym rats, one can count on Swoll to bring the news to light. In fact, people have also publicly apologized for creating a ruckus or offending others with their gym shenanigans after being pointed out by the influencer. However, the TikToker has also courted controversy for his posts that call out random people, showing a lack of decorum.
But the fitness icon says he does not enjoy the process. “Do you know what that does to me mentally to sit here all day and see that?” exclaimed Swoll to the host. “The day comes when I don’t ever have to do another video because people are acting right in the gym and treating people the way they should. Au revoir. I’ll ride off into the sunset happy,” added the positivity influencer.
Swoll revealed that people send him “hundreds of videos every day of negative bullying,” which is undoubtedly challenging for him to watch. However, someone has to point out these mistakes to enrich the gym community. Earlier, the chiseled athlete called out a kid for body-shaming a man in the sauna.

The person in question was spending time in the sauna when a boy came and started recording. Moreover, he fat-shamed the man, pointing to his weight. Enraged, Swoll said, “Kid, you need to take some lessons from the man and learn to mind your own business.”

Furthermore, the icon further added, “The fact that people think it is okay to do this to somebody just to get some likes and attention blows my mind.” Swoll’s actions remind the bodybuilding community that body shaming or showing disrespect is an uncouth behavior that violates the principles of inclusivity and equality.
