Jake Gyllenhaal, the renowned Hollywood star, has recently been making waves with his jaw-dropping body transformation for the “Road House.” His portrayal of Elwood Dalton, a former UFC fighter, has left fans and fitness enthusiasts in awe of his dedication.
Recently, Gyllenhaal spilled the beans on how he prepared for the physically demanding role in a recent appearance on the Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon. What caught everyone’s attention was his preparation to go toe-to-toe with none other than the legendary Conor McGregor.

In the snippet of the interview shared on Instagram, Gyllenhaal admitted, “When I got word that Conor McGregor was in the movie with me, and when I got word that he was going be doing it, I was super psyched.” Gyllenhaal shared, “But then I got totally terrified.” According to the actor, the prospect of facing McGregor in a fight scene was daunting.

To get into shape, Gyllenhaal embarked on a rigorous two-month training regimen. “We trained for two like, I mean I stay in pretty good shape, but we trained for two months pretty hard, grappling, a lot of MMA, and then also just like getting shape,” he explained. His dedication to the role extended beyond the gym. Gyllenhaal committed to a disciplined diet plan, consuming six to seven meals a day to fuel his workouts.
And the result of his transformation left fans and critics alike stunned. Fallon remarked, “I’ve never seen anyone have 13 abs! How is it possible?” To achieve such a great physique and shape, he delved into a routine that included multiple reps of sit-ups, miles of running, core exercises, and cardio.
Gyllenhaal’s grueling routine for ‘Road House’
His routine showcased unwavering dedication to fulfilling the criteria of this role. Gyllenhaal’s day began with a thousand sit-ups, followed by an 8-mile run and a carbs-rich breakfast. His routine also included relentless hours of boxing practice. Besides that, he embarked on core workouts, cardio sessions, and weightlifting. The 42-year-old worked super hard to get a strong body for his movie. From pull-ups, and arms, to bicycle crunches he did it all.
For his weightlifting routine, he included dips, crunches, barbell squats, and deadlifts. In addition, he did two boxing sessions regularly to justify his role. Now, his dazzling ripped body shows the result of his hard-core training.
