Bodybuilding icon Arnold Schwarzenegger had a very disciplined and strict upbringing, owing to his police chief father. Therefore, he intended to impart the same values to his four kids with Maria Shriver, although slightly less strictness was implemented. Katherine, Arnie’s eldest child, has more than once vouched for her parents for raising them perfectly. More so, she even cherishes her childhood even today. However, one act by her father left her with utter embarrassment. 

A fresh interview on YouTube featured Katherine opening up about an episode from her childhood that humiliated her because of her dad’s antics. Moreover, she also received more attention from her classmates because of Arnie’s stardom, which was a different experience for her than the other kids in school.

Katherine wanted to switch to a normal upbringing

The interview posted by the channel Nikkie And Brie got the 33-year-old author candid as they chatted about her life and being The Terminator’s daughter. The host brought up a question about her upbringing, as she asked, “What was it for you growing up…you had the most badass dad ever…to have someone so buff and strong and then like literally the Terminator? Did that phase you at all as a kid?” 

Katherine promptly recalled an incident from her childhood, particularly when she was in school, that urged her to accept that her life was a bit different than others. Arnie would drop his kids to school in a Hummer, thus, making her eldest daughter feel embarrassed. “I remember the only time really realizing that okay, this is different because my dad would drop us off in school in a Hummer that had no windows, no doors, and no roof. And I was mortified,” she revealed.

And that was not all, as the star kid even fought the act by wanting to get down before her stop, or at times, suggesting her father get her dropped in a minivan. Katherine added, “You’d pull up to carpool, and I was like, can you please drop me off down the street? Please, I’m so embarrassed. Can we please just take the minivan like this is not my vibe? I don’t like this at all.” Moreover, later on, the boys from her grade became overtly interested in her father’s stardom, which made her realize that this life was “different” for her. Fun thing aside, Arnie was also particularly strict about an array of things at home.

Katherine Schwarzenegger cherishes her childhood punishments

A few months ago, Katherine took to her Instagram to share a post on her story, which depicted interesting correlations between her childhood and punishments. Despite their luxurious background, the Schwarzenegger parents did their best to raise their kids with an average American lifestyle. This also included the punishments an average kid has to comply with. 

The post discussed how punishments in childhood are preferable during her adulthood, like going to bed early, limited partying, and such aspects. Katherine agreed with the fact that these punishments turn into blessings as one grows up.

It is imaginable how life must have been for the Schwarzenegger kids, with all the stardom and fame simply because of their star parents. But it is safe to say that even the young ones handled it well and have grown to depict the values of their parents.
