In the realm of professional bodybuilding, strict diets, and intense workout regimens are standard. However, the idea of “cheat meals” is becoming increasingly popular among athletes. These intentional treats not only offer a much-needed break from repetitive diets but also deliver potential advantages for performance and mental wellness.

Quinton Eriya, the Canadian bodybuilder and Men’s Open contender has recently shared a jaw-dropping video on his YouTube channel, showcasing his massive 3,500-calorie cheat meal. Well-known for his remarkable muscle mass and slim waist, Eriya actively enjoys these indulgent cheat meals five times a week throughout the 2023 off-season.

In the video, the Beastwood showcased his bulking strategy by devouring an impressive 3,500 calories in just one meal. This massive meal featured two hamburgers, accounting for 1,680 calories, alongside regular fries, which added another 960 calories. Additionally, a chocolate Oreo milkshake provided 670 more calories. The total calorie count came to 3,310.

The IFBB pro shared that he usually indulges in these cheat meals as his fifth meal of the day. However, he sometimes shifts the timing based on his daily schedule. ?I have five cheat meals or free meals, whatever you wanna call them, I have five of them every week and they?re only on training days.??

Introduction to Glucose Disposal Agents (GDAs) in Eriya’s strategy

Additionally, the Canadian bodybuilder mentioned using Glucose Disposal Agents (GDAs) along with his high-calorie meals. Essentially, GDAs help transfer glucose from the bloodstream into muscle tissue, where it can be immediately used for energy during activity or stored as glycogen in muscles and the liver for later use. Consequently, by boosting muscle cells’ sensitivity to insulin, GDAs effectively lower the need for high insulin levels in the blood, ensuring that consumed carbohydrates serve as fuel rather than turning into body fat. This method potentially leads to better performance, faster recovery, and improved body composition.
