The saying ‘The apple does not fall far from the tree’ perfectly fits Joseph Baena, son of 7-time Mr. Olympia winner Arnold Schwarzenegger, who, like his father, has been into fitness and bodybuilding for a while now. Over the years, through dedication and the knowledge passed on to him by his father, Baena has built an athletic physique that he likes to flaunt whenever the opportunity strikes. And recently, Baena shared an Instagram story asking his fans to guess his current weight. 

Amidst many replies and guesses, there was a specific reply that looked like it targeted Baena’s insecurities. Affected by the answer, he reshared the message on his Instagram story as well.

Growing up as an obese kid, Baena’s childhood was not a bed of roses, as he struggled with body dysmorphia. However, he decided to get a gym membership and work on himself. Being the son of a bodybuilding legend, the pressure to maintain an excellent physique has been really high for Baena. Guessing the current weight of Baena, a person stated, “Not big enough.” Reposting the response on his Instagram story, Baena wrote“I felt that one.”

Baena has been open about his struggles with obesity. His love for weightlifting and bodybuilding was part of his self-discovery. However, before he started lifting weights, he initially relied on swimming as the primary physical activity that helped him lose the extra pounds.

Baena opens up about how swimming changed his life

A while ago, during an interview with ‘Coming Soon,’ Baena opened up about his journey to a fit body. He revealed that he kept getting rejected from sports teams due to his weight issues. However, at last, a friend of Baena suggested that he join the swimming team, as it did not require any trials.

The only obstacle there was being overweight, being a little chubby, and putting a speedo on.” However, his efforts soon came to fruition. He revealed, “By the end of that season, I had lost a lot of fat, and I started seeing some definition in my muscle and a vein in my arm.”
