Arnold Schwarzenegger has achieved success in multiple fields, including politics. Despite being born in Austria, Schwarzenegger escaped his poverty-stricken life and unreasonably strict father to pursue his bodybuilding dreams. The Austrian Oak became a seven-time Mr. Olympia, earned American citizenship, became a Hollywood star, and became the Governor of California.
The 76-year-old’s stardom had reached such heights he wanted to run for president. If it wasn’t for the Constitution preventing Arnie from running for the position, he might have become POTUS as well. However, during The Rest Is Politics, host Rory Stewart asked the former politician an intriguing question involving his homeland.

“Can I ask you Governor? You can’t be president of the United States because the Constitution doesn’t allow you… but why not become Chancellor of Austria?” Rory Stewart asked the 76-year-old. The British diplomat explained his logic. “Austria would love to have you back. You’re a big star in Austria, it’s your country… Why not go back and be a great Austrian politician?” asked Stewart.
However, Arnie didn’t entertain the idea. He immediately dismissed the notion of becoming the Chancellor of Austria. “I think they have a good Chancellor… I don’t want to go back to Austria and be a politician,” said the bodybuilding legend. While Schwarzenegger still believes he would make a great president, simply going after a position of authority is not his ambition.
“I just feel like I want to live in America. I want to live in California,” said the governor. Arnold Schwarzenegger loves his motherland and visits Austria every year. The 76-year-old set up his Climate initiative headquarters in Austria. Arnie also organizes the Austrian World Summit annually. “But to do politics there… no I have no desire to do that,” said the bodybuilding icon. Schwarzenegger also feels compelled to give back to America.
