Arnold Schwarzenegger never doubted his caliber in achieving what he could visualize. The journey of a man from Thal, Austria is revered by the entire world. While the bodybuilding community remembers Schwarzenegger as a great bodybuilder, the movie buffs lovingly call him Arnie. He has also left a deep impact on the people of California as a Governator. However, the blot on his life came in the form of an affair with his housekeeper after news of him having a love child with her went viral. 

The Austrian Oak expressed his grief over his mistake in his docuseries Arnold. He again embraced his personal failure and hoped that his fans would understand him in a recent CNN interview with Chris Wallace. 

Arnold Schwarzenegger reaffirms his thoughts on his affair

While having a candid talk with the Terminator icon, the host brought up the topic of the former’s affair. Wallace played the clip of Schwarzenegger speaking about his personal crisis from the documentary where he termed his illicit relationship with Mildred Baena as a “major failure.” 

What do you want us to understand about all that,” Wallace asked the Governator. “I think the documentary makes it very clear that I’m a person that has huge successes and huge failures, and that was one of them,” the Pumping Iron actor said. 

He further added that he is “not proud of it“. “I despise it, but it is what it is, and I feel terrible about it,” the FUBAR actor revealed. However, he feels that he had said enough in the documentary, and “when people watch it, they will get it,” he opined. Not just this time, the Twins actor declared a public apology back in the day when his affair news became public. 

The Governator issued a public apology in 2011

Once the news of Schwarzenegger’s love child with Baena hit the tabloids in 2011, the Commando actor released an official statement seeking an apology from the masses. He owned his actions and was very sorry for his behavior.

He went on to apologize to his then-wife Maria Shriver and his four children with her and his family for being a disappointment. The couple separated because of it, but they still maintain a close bond and share parenting responsibilities with great love and affection.

Though Maria Shriver and Arnold Schwarzenegger’s love story ended on a sad note, both never regretted their companionship over the years. While Shriver went on to say that she is grateful for the love she shared with Arnie in a 2013 interview, the True Lies actor confessed that his then-wife and his four children are his greatest love in a 2003 Vanity Fair Magazine interview.
