In-game tussles are a common sight in the sports world; however, the severity of the situation completely depends on the athlete’s conscience. Similarly, the 2023 Canadian National Championships witnessed such a sight between two icons of the sport, Devon Larratt, and Ryan Espey. Following a fight that broke out between the rivals, Larratt ended up thrashing Espey. Recently, the former World champion took the initiative to make things right.

Larratt took to his YouTube channel to apologize for his actions at the Nationals and dedicate a special message to his long-time fellow competitor, Ryan Espey. He claimed to have taken things too far and thus regretted it.

Taking to his official YouTube channel today, the 48-year-old pro realized his actions publicly and expressed his regret for his fight with Espey. He noted an apology for the arm wrestler and admitted, “I probably took things too far.” However, he had not intended to hurt his fellow athlete’s emotions.

While accepting that he crossed the line in a fit of anger, Larratt said, “I cross a line where someone is genuinely hurt by my actions; this is not my intent…Ryan I apologize for taking things a little bit too far at the Nationals.” He acknowledged their long friendship and history in the sport while extending his hand out for peace and keeping it all in the past.

On the 1st of July, Larratt defeated the former champion at the Canadian Nationals amid their already ongoing beef. The Victoria resident had allegedly forfeited matches to compete against his rival, Espey. Espey brought up this issue before the Ethics Committee. The tumultuous situation soon escalated into an ugly fight in a recent match between the two, where Larratt thrashed Espey and the athletes got into a physical brawl. Although, when talking about Larratt’s finesse, he’s quite unbeatable. He once destroyed a WWE Champion to ashes with his strength.

Hailed as one of the best arm wrestlers in all of North America, Larratt is a reigning champion in the industry. Several athletes come to test their strength by competing against the Canadian pro, however, many seem to fail. Similarly, WWE Superstar Braun Strowman once tried his hand, literally, at the feat, and guess who won?

During the 2021 Olympia in Orlando, Larratt was challenged by Strowman for an arm-wrestling match. After some dramatic acts like flexing muscles and badmouthing, the athletes got to work. While the crowd roared in cheers, Larratt stole the show and beat Strowman.
