Hafthor Bjornsson is not a new name when it comes to breaking records in the World’s Strongest Man arena. Bjornsson holds many world records under his name, including the deadlift record he accomplished in 2020 after lifting 1104.52 pounds. However, years before that in 2016, Bjornsson did an even crazier act.
A resurfaced video of the Icelandic strongman was posted on the official Instagram account of The World’s Strongest Man, showcasing him pulling an 88,000-pound C-130 Hercules plane in the World’s Strongest Man competition held in 2016. He gave the three-time world’s strongest man title holder, Brian Shaw, a tough run for the competition.
Bjornsson puts on a show of sheer strength

The resurfaced montage displayed the immense strength that Bjornsson held. One could see how he pulled the plane without any hassle, making it seem like he was pulling at a toy car. While many struggled to pull the plane from the start line, Bjornsson gave the rest of the strongmen a tough battle for the crown with his attempt.

The Icelandic Strongman won the plane pull-round, beating the former World’s Strongest Man, Brian Shaw. Bjornsson pulled the plane for 24.90 meters, while Shaw could only manage 24.53 meters. Despite his domination in the plane pull, Bjornsson could only place second in the overall rankings.
Shaw took the title home with a mere two points being the difference between him and Bjornsson. As they saw his plane pull, Bjornsson’s fans and other bodybuilding enthusiasts were left dumbstruck by the display of immense strength by the Icelandic strongman.

One fan commented on Bjornsson being related to the Norse God and wrote, “Half man half Thor!” Another fan suggested that Bjornsson pulls an even heavier plane and commented, “Now do a C17!!!!” One of the followers asked the Icelandic strongman a question, “Genuine question: how tf do you train for that. I dont think many gym can fit a plane inside.“
One of the admirers commented how Bjornsson’s nickname justifies itself, “The mountain for a reason.” An Instagram user highlighted the exceptional recovery strength of the Icelandic strongman and commented, “You are great! overcoming psysical and mental injuries. Keep on!” One simply showcased the records of Bjornsson, commenting, “With an incredible 24 International event wins (highest in history) and an astonishing 66.7% winning percentage (highest in history).” He added,” Hafthor Julius Bjornsson is the Greatest Vehicle Puller of All time!“
