Arnie was at the height of his bodybuilding career when he quit the arena for acting. However, he waited for a chance to play lead, and Conan the Barbarian gave him a much-required break. The bodybuilding icon went on to feature in James Cameron’s The Terminator, becoming the action hero of Hollywood. Schwarzenegger once revealed that he was after the Total Recall script, which was owned by Dino De Laurentiis, in a GQ interview.

I was after “Total Recall” for many, many years. Dino DeLaurentiis owned the movie, and he was going to do it with Jeff Bridges” Arnie stated. So, when Dino De Laurentiis was in financial trouble, he was in the plan to sell Total Recall. So, using the opportunity, Arnie backed Andrew Vajna and Mario Kassar to purchase the film, and later the director was on board.

The film went on to become a blockbuster grossing $30 million in the opening weekend. “It made $130 million domestically and worldwide almost $300 million,” the Governator revealed. However, the remake news didn’t go well with Arnie, “And they tried to copy it, someone tried to do a remake of it. How stupid is that? I mean, Jesus,” the 76-year-old said. Arnold Schwarzenegger turned 76 on July 30, and the birthday boy’s last year was all about serving people.
