One such individual is Mike Matarazzo, who never won the 31 pro shows he participated in but won the hearts of fans all around the world. The bodybuilder was known to captivate the audience with his impressive physique and charismatic presence on the stage. However, nine years back, he passed away because of his health issues arising from taking excessive steroids.

However, the late bodybuilding legend is again in the limelight as his old footage from the show in 1991 has resurfaced on a social media platform.

Recently, a video from 1991 featuring Mike Matarazzo was shared on the popular Instagram page of ‘The Golden Days.’ The footage showcased his undeniable talent as he posed and dominated the stage with his massive, muscular physique. The glimpse of Matarazzo in his prime was enough to explain his popularity among the fans.

The Instagram post featuring Mike’s video garnered an outpouring of heartfelt condolences from fans stirring up a wave of emotions among fans as they flooded the comments section as it became a space for individuals to express their sadness at the loss of this beloved figure. “What a beautiful physique, RIP,” a fan wrote.

Many fans expressed their profound sorrow about the fact that he was no longer with us. “Mike Matarazzo, we miss you”, a fan wrote. Comments such as “such a nice guy RIP Mike !” and “RIP Big Mike. So underrated.” were prevalent, reflecting the deep emotional impact and a sense of loss. It was evident that his legacy has lived on, as fans wrote, “Legends never die, his life ended too early”. However, the late bodybuilder was always open about the reason behind his health issues. 

The confession from the bodybuilding legend

The legendary bodybuilder made a name for himself in the fitness community. However, all these accomplishments came at the cost of the consumption of steroids and drugs that ultimately degraded his health system. In the later part of his career, he openly admitted to using steroids and acknowledged the physical toll on his health.

In an early interview, he spoke honestly about the regret he felt. Matarazzo revealed that if given the chance to go back in time, he would remove steroids and drugs from his life, as they had robbed him of 20 precious years. “Only a handful of men on this entire planet make barely a decent living at bodybuilding. I happened to be one who did for 15 years, but I probably took 20 years off my life,” he said.

Nine years after his passing, the bodybuilding community still mourns the loss of a legend. Mike Matarazzo will forever be remembered, and his legacy will transcend through generations.
