After the success of Deadpool (2016), moviegoers unanimously accepted that Ryan Reynolds was the best fit for Deadpool. Reynolds brought the perfect mix of humor and physicality to the role. Deadpool 2 (2018) became one of the biggest R-rated films of all time. In the film, Josh Brolin joined the $168 million superhero franchise as Cable. While Ryan Reynolds had maintained a superhero-worthy physique for years, it was a challenge for then-50-year-old Brolin to get in shape.

However, the man who is filming the third installment of his iconic franchise once jokingly took offense at talk show host Graham Norton. While appearing on The Graham Norton Show, the host talked about how hard both actors worked to get in superhero shape. However, during an interaction about the cramped Deadpool suit, Norton supposedly suggested it must have felt “kind of nice,”?for Reynolds to look more buff in the suit. However, when he began to praise Brolin, Reynolds stopped the talk show host.

Ryan Reynolds wasn’t ready to let Norton take away any credit

While Graham Norton didn’t intend to downplay the effort Ryan Reynolds put into the role Reynolds wouldn’t let the talk show host skip him to praise the 50-year-old actor. “You get to wear the suit, which is a nice… kind of like ‘I’m wearing a suit.’ But Josh it’s really you that...” Norton couldn’t finish his statement before the 46-year-old cut him off.

“Hey! Hey! Hey!”?exclaimed the undisputed star of the action-comedy genre.?“I’m really in the suit,”?said Reynolds, before turning to apologize to his co-star.?“I’m sorry,”?he told Josh Brolin as everyone, including Norton, laughed at his abrupt reply. However, as Reynolds explained and everyone agreed, getting inside and acting while wearing the Deadpool suit is a workout in itself.

Other than Joh Brolin, Vanessa Kirby also joined Reynolds during the episode. Although Kirby is yet to don a superhero suit, even she vouched how hard it is to move in such suits. However, Rayan Reynolds and Josh Brolin praised one another during the episode. They had mutual respect for how hard they worked out in the gym.

Deadpool and Cable sang one another’s praises

“You know there’s something about him that he oozes, that he’s worked out,”?said Brolin. He said that while working with multiple stars on the sets of Avengers, he saw people who didn’t workout.?“I saw those guys put on suits and I saw underneath. I was like, ‘You’re not working out at all!'”?he said. With Reynolds, that wasn’t the case.

Brolin attested that the 46-year-old didn’t need padding to look buff. Ryan Reynolds also paired the 55-year-old’s work ethic. When Brolin played Cable, he was 50. At his age, recovery and the risk of injury become significant concerns. However, the Avengers actor pulled it off.?“That guy got shredded,” Reynolds said about Josh Brolin’s bodybuilding transformation.
