As important as it is to gain muscle and build an amazing physique, another important aspect of bodybuilding is to learn the art of posing and flexing. There is no point in building a perfect physique if you are not able to display your full potential on the stage. While posing is often thought of as an easy thing by viewers and fans, the reality of the matter is that it requires a lot of practice and stamina to pose for a long while on a competitive bodybuilding stage, while dieting for the past few weeks.
Moreover, posing has to look effortless, with confidence and a smile on your face to make it look impressive. These small intricate details can only be learned with time. Bodybuilding veterans Samir Bannout, Lee Haney, and John Hansen recently sat down for an episode of ‘The Muscle Maturity Podcast.’ Amidst many other topics they discussed, Samir pointed out what he believes was the flaw in IFBB Pro Michal Krizo Krizanek’s performance at this year’s Olympia.

Serbian bodybuilding veteran Krizo has immense potential in himself, according to Samir Bannout. However, Bannout explained that he does not look confident enough when he steps on the stage with the other big athletes like Hadi Choopan, Derek Lunsford, etc. Krizo, who secured the seventh position at this year’s Olympia contest, looked impressive, however, he did not look confident enough.
Bannout stated, “There’s this gentleman, Michael Krizo. Really good bodybuilder. He gets his body in incredible shape. But Lee, he just doesn’t control that, he doesn’t have the Lee Haley confidence.” Continuing further, Samir said, “He’ll go onstage and like I lost the show…if you see it on his face. These guys have to pose and have to have a different attitude. The winning attitude has to be there.”

He further admitted that he loves the look that Krizo presents on stage, it is just his lack of confidence that is not letting him place good. “This guy’s unbelievable. Lee, I love his muscularity and quality…he’s wasted. But I don’t think he’s putting enough emphasis on posing Lee and the facial expression. The facial expression is necessary,” Haney said.
A while back, Haney also educated the audience about the reason behind increasing injuries among modern bodybuilders. Let’s take a quick look.
Lee Haney spills beans on the reason behind increasing injuries
During his time on the ‘Muscle Maturity Podcast,’ Lee Haney admitted that modern bodybuilders often train too hard, without focusing much on mind-muscle connection. The eight-time Mr. Olympia winner also disclosed that while athletes back in his time prioritized safe training, modern bodybuilders often go all out, using extensive weights, and poor form.

Ever since Haney retired from competitive bodybuilding, he has been coaching athletes. He admits that one common problem in many of them is that they do junk volume. “Too many of these guys these days..they train too heavy uh you know with not enough rest…I mean I’m working with several amateur athletes now and one of the things that I find that’s common is that they overtrain,” Lee Haney disclosed.
