76-year-old Arnold Schwarzenegger made his triumphant return to acting with Netflix’s FUBAR. The series generated serious hype after the first trailer launched and lived up to it after release. The Arnold Schwarzenegger starrer was immensely successful and topped Netflix’s US charts in no time. Netflix immediately renewed Arnold Schwarzenegger’s first TV show for a second season.

In late 2023, Schwarzenegger spoke about FUBAR season 2 while speaking about Danny DeVito. The bodybuilding legend said he would work on a film with his Twins (1988) co-star after he filmed FUBAR’s second season. The 76-year-old action star also clarified that filming for his Netflix show would start around April. However, Arnie’s recent pacemaker surgery has worried many fans about his health and the status of FUBAR. Despite getting renewed, Netflix has been tight-lipped about the details of the show.

Although no one would have guessed, Arnold Schwarzenegger spoke in support of Senate Bill 1137 days after having a pacemaker installed. The bodybuilding icon later wrote in his newsletter that he underwent the procedure because doctors noticed irregularities in his heart rhythm. For the uninitiated, this was the former governor’s fourth heart-related procedure.

The seven-time Mr. Olympia discovered he had inherited a heart defect from his mother in his 30s. Aurelia Schwarzenegger had the genetic defect thanks to her mother. So, since 1997, Arnold Schwarzenegger had to undergo three open heart surgeries. His second surgery happened in 2018 and the last one was in 2020. However, the pacemaker installation hasn’t slowed down Arnie.

Days after announcing it Schwarzenegger spoke about FUBAR season 2. “I’ve gotten so many kind messages from all over the world, but a lot of people have asked if my pacemaker will cause any problems with FUBAR Season 2. Absolutely not. I will be ready to film in April,” wrote Arnold Schwarzenegger in his Instagram update.

Although neither The Terminator nor Netflix revealed the date filming is scheduled to start, we can make an educated guess. The bodybuilding icon wrote in his newsletter that doctors advised him to avoid any stressful activity four to six weeks after the surgery. Hence, it’s safe to say that Arnie might start filming FUBAR in the second half of April. Yet, what about the plot?

What do we know about the plot?

FUBAR ended with a cliffhanger at the end of season one. The Netflix original’s first season’s final scenes mirrored John Wick: Chapter 2. Chapter 2 ended with Wick becoming a target for all bounty hunters. Similarly, Arnold Schwarzenegger’s character Luke Brunner’s cover got blown, alongside his fellow agents in FUBAR season 1. The show’s finale ends with them on the run.

Based on how the first season ended, the plot in FUBAR 2 could revolve around Brunner, his friends, and his family constantly on the run. However, Netflix has not revealed any details about the plot. While Wick may have had a route to redemption in the John Wick universe, in FUBAR, the good guys are FBI agents. None of them are part of a fictional international network of covert assassins.

Arnie’s character also has the added complication of dealing with a mole acting as a friend. So, the possibilities of how season 2’s plot pans out are nearly endless. However, the fact that no changes have been announced in the casting indicates that the core characters will all play a significant role in FUBAR season 2.

The FUBAR S02 cast

While Arnold Schwarzenegger might have brought the star power to FUBAR, Monica Barbaro also rode in high on the success of Top Gun: Maverick. However, besides the stars, the rest of the cast also got a lot of screen time. While the central story of the show might have been straightforward, the Netflix original wove multiple sub-plots into the main story.

Nearly all important characters got enough screen time to make audiences care about them. Hence, it’s safe to say that besides the leads, the full supporting cast would most probably reprise their roles. Here’s a list of the cast that were in the final scenes of FUBAR S01.

Bruner’s superior, Dot, played by Barbara Eve Harris, should also make a return in the upcoming season of FUBAR. We have no clue about who or how many antagonists the second season of the show will feature. Hence, we don’t know who or if actors have been cast yet.
