Reinhoudt died on Monday following a single-vehicle car crash in Pomfret, Chautauqua County officials confirmed Wednesday. According to New York State Police, Reinhoudt?s Jeep was traveling on Glasgow Road Monday morning before it exited the west shoulder of the roadway and struck a tree. He was taken to Brooks Memorial Hospital where he later died.?

Don Reinhoudt, born on November 24, 1945, in New Jersey, USA, left an indelible mark on the strongman world during the 1970s and 1980s. Reinhoudt’s accomplishments and his status as the second man to win The World’s Strongest Man solidified his place as a trailblazer and an inspiration to many. Posting his condolences, Shahlaei wrote, “Very sad to learn about the passing of Don Reinhoudt, the second man to win The World’s Strongest Man, and one of the pioneers of the modern sports of Powerlifting and Strongman.”

 

He continued by revealing,?“I was lucky enough to talk to Don a couple of times, and he was incredibly kind and a real gentleman with so many stories to share.
