“He Will Always Have My Respect”: Bodybuilding World Bows Down to the Legend Who Stood by His Decision Even Though It Ruined His Career

Lee Priest is among the bodybuilding icons who never hesitate to speak for the truth. The bodybuilding fraternity adores him for his well-shredded body mixed with those bold and fierce statements. It might probably be the reason many of his bodybuilding fans and followers love and respect him. 

Back in 2003, at the Mr. Olympia Press Conference, Lee Priest raised his voice about the injustice that happened to bodybuilders over prize money. He was not happy with the prize money of Mr. Olympia. Along with this, he came out in the open to help the legends. Recently, he took the internet by storm when he threw some questions on the reliability of Olympia. 

The Bodybuilding community pays immense respect to Lee Priest for his honest judgment

In the realm of bodybuilding, Mr. Olympia remains a unique competition for the athletes. To get this coveted title, a bodybuilder has to go through every challenge or hurdle. But things start to get worse when legends become the victim of unfair decisions. Whenever an individual experiences injustice, Lee Priest emerges as a vocal advocate who perseveres until justice is achieved. According to him, the competition’s prize money for the world’s best bodybuilding competition isn’t fair. Therefore, he seems to stand against it.

In his video, fans can witness Priest calling out Olympia’s price policy, which is now circulated all over the internet. Owing to this, it flooded social media platforms with the fans’ reactions or comments. In the video, he said, “Well, I don’t have any animosity towards the IFBB at all, but this is Mr. Olympia, the biggest show supposedly in bodybuilding, and the Arnold Classic can give out every prize money to all the competitors. 

He continued, “And the GNC this year is giving out prize money every competitor. So when you have a show like the Olympia where people have to qualify to be here, and you have the guy who came 15th, 16th, training just as hard as me, and I get money in here, doesn’t, I just don’t see it’s fair.”

Showing his pure intention of giving payment to those who are deprived of what they deserve in the competition, he further added, “So if I’m placing in the money, yes, I will give them some of my prize money.”

Lee Priest’s fair decision caught the fans’ reactions 

One Instagram user wrote, “Only guy who stood up for everyone.” On the other hand, another fan resonated with the comments and said, “This ruined Lee priest, but he will always have my respect. This changed bodybuilding for everyone. But nobody gave him the respect he needed after this.” 

Hailing Priest for his honest act, a fan said, “This is why Lee is one of the greatest athletes in bodybuilding history.”
