The competition in the Men’s Open Division this year is incredibly intense, with every contender giving their absolute best to claim the coveted title. The reigning champion is showcasing his amazing progress, but the spotlight has shifted to last year’s runner-up, who is constantly garnering attention from the bodybuilding community.

The IFBB Pro Coach shared a video on his YouTube channel on October 4th. In this video, he unveiled his favorite contender from the Open Division, every competitor is giving their best to be on the top, however, the runner-up from last year is putting in the hard work to be the new champion of Mr. Olympia.

Lunsford surpasses the chance of winning $300,000

Doucette, however, named Derek Lunsford as the potential candidate to win this year’s competition. He shared the reasoning behind the chances of him claiming the SANDOW trophy. He compared the top contenders from last year to now after going through their growth.

The result of Derek Lunsford’s progress really impressed Doucette. He opined that the defender Hadi Choopan had its peak, but now every possibility is showing towards a potential new champion for the desired title. He mentioned that Choopan’s winning chances are less, he would win only, “If Derek worked to regress, but I don’t believe that’s going to happen,” Doucette said in the video.

 The 48-year-old YouTuber continued and added, “I believe that Derek wants it more than ever before, and remember he sat out the Arnold Classic Derek Lunsford gave up $300000 of which I believe he would have won and he did that because his eyes were on Mr. Olympia, he said $300000 I can compete for the arm not worth it I want the Olympia title that is what I want that is what I’m going for nothing else.” The eagerness he’s been showing lately is remarkable. It made everyone believe in him.

In addition, the decisions Derek had been making astounded him since he lost. He completely changed his mindset and solely focused on Mr. Olympia. He’s been preparing to win the title this year. Earlier, the 212 champion in his Instagram post revealed the secret behind his achievements in the caption. Posting a few pictures of himself from a training session, he talked about enjoying the process, even through the battles.
He wrote, “It’s not always easy, but it’s worth it. Learning to find joy in suffering is easier said than done. Passion and purpose will carry you much further than motivation.” Well, his positive attitude toward the championship has really made everyone believe he might win the contest.
