Apart from being a bodybuilder, the seven-time Mr. Olympia Phil Heath is also a motivational speaker. Heath has often said that in the past, he was someone who used to suppress his pain like a soldier and train like a maniac to be the best out there. While this did help him win titles, his mental health did take a toll.
In 2018, after getting dethroned by Shawn Roden, Heath started working on his mental health and since then, he has encouraged everyone to open up about their troubles. Recently, the seven-time Mr. Olympia touched upon this topic once again.

The Gift posted a story on his Instagram account addressing the importance of opening up and asking your friends and family if they’re doing okay. He wrote in the story, “Men… Check on your bros! Ask them if they’re okay, hold space for them and listen if they need an ear.”
He had similar advice for his female audience. “Women… Be there for your sisters, hold space for them, they’re not your competition,” he penned. Highlighting the fact that everyone is fighting battles in their minds, Heath explained how a little bit of help can sometimes go a long way in making things easier for those suffering mentally.
While spreading “Much love to you all“, Heath shed light on how having someone to talk to and open up often helps ease one’s tension. Earlier, Heath had shared who was the person who supported him mentally. According to him, they played a crucial role in his journey and were the reason behind his success.

In a podcast on the YouTube channel True Geordie, the seven-time Mr. Olympia opened up about his wife Shurie Heath’s struggles and gave her a ton of credit. He revealed how she had a breast implant illness and autoimmune issues. She gained over 60 pounds because of a mold in her implants. Even after facing all these challenges, Heath’s wife never backed down and always supported him and pushed him to go to the gym.
Heath emphasized the belief that the right person can transform your life completely and said, “I was married once before, and it was just not the same; clearly, I mean, people could see; I mean, people have told me they’re like dude, like, it’s completely changed your life, and I’m like. Absolutely!.”

Like Heath vouches for, opening up to your partner, friend, or family can make a big difference. Instead of suppressing your issues like the former pro bodybuilder, do share them with anyone you like and take proper care of your mental health.
