Mike Mentzer was a pioneer and an unforgettable legend in the bodybuilding world. Mentzer also adopted a high-intensity training, of Arthur Jones, and incorporated his own ideas. This new method named Heavy Duty, single-handedly changed the whole industry of bodybuilding. Along with this, the bodybuilder also won the 1978 Mr universe, as well as the heavyweight class of Mr. Olympia, in 1979 with a perfect 300 score. Unfortunately, in the wake of chronic heart complications, Mentzer passed away on June 10 2001.
Dorian Yates, the British bodybuilding legend who looked up to Mike for counsel, posted a heartfelt message on Instagram yesterday. The message was a tribute to his mentor and his revolutionary ideas.

The date 10 June 2023, marked the 22nd death anniversary of the IFBB pro champion Mike Mentzer. To express his heartwarming eulogy for Mentzer, Yates took to his Instagram to post a carousel of pictures and write a heartfelt message. The caption read, “June 10th marks the day Mike Mentzer sadly passed away.”

The British bodybuilder was a fan of Mentzer and wrote, “Mike had a major influence on myself and my bodybuilding journey. Firstly as a fan when I’d be reading old copies of Muscle Builder and later, when we met in person at Golds Gym.”
Penning his gratitude for his mentor, Yates conceded, “Thanks for your inspiring and educational words.”

The late Mike Mentzer. was a unique thinker and went against the rules and traditional ideas of bodybuilding. He always emphasized that humans were an amalgamation of mind and body. He was a philosopher and an author along with being a champion bodybuilder.
There was a recently resurfaced video, where he was talking about his philosophy on life that had left fans astonished. The 70s bodybuilding legend, had responded to the interviewer who had asked, “If I am not going to train every day, what am I going to do with my time?”

Mike said, “Read a Novel or Philosophy book by Ayn Rand.” Along with this he also advised the research of neuroanatomy for a deeper understanding of the human body and mind. Mike’s impact is still seen in the bodybuilding world and hopefully will be seen in the future as well.
