Both Williamson and Saffari showed their surprise at the trending fitness inspiration. Broaching the topic, the host remarked, “Here’s like a move away from thinspo to fitspo and now muscle mummy.” The bodybuilder with 2 million views on Instagram agreed. Although she has had men comment on her posts using the famous term, she was unaware of the greater force behind the trend.

She added, “Gym Shark did a muscle mommy t-shirt, yes, and I was at the event, and like, even you know girls talking on the intercom or whatever, they’d be like, “Okay, muscle mommy’s like, let’s keep pushing, and … I’ve never heard this, like, I haven’t heard women addressing women as muscle mommies.” Saffari was surprised that gym slang had gained prominence in such a short time. The relatively new training phenomenon acknowledges the efforts of women who balance fitness and other commitments.
