Obesity is a much-debated topic in the fitness world. However, there seems to be a major divide about the topic among fitness influencers and many in the industry. While some openly criticize those who are overweight, others are often compassionate about them.
That being said, the harsh reality is that obese people often become the subject of mockery and biased judgment. The bodybuilder, Marc Lobliner, seems to have the same thoughts. However, he is also of the belief that working on one’s health will help people better their lives at work as well.

In a recent Instagram post, Marc Lobliner shared his opinion about the way the industry sees those who are overweight. “I don’t like any discrimination, but it happens.” he wrote in the caption. He also talked about how one should be able to take care of their health so as to ensure that one flourishes in their work environment as well. “If you can’t take care of yourself, how do I expect you to take care of my business? To be a good employee, to have pride in your work.” he asked. He wanted people “to have pride in your health.” and work on themselves.

Further, he showed what scientific research has to say about this, “A study from the University of Amsterdam and Radbound University Nijmegen found that obese individuals are often discriminated against in the hiring process.”
According to him, not only do overweight people come close to their deaths, but it also affects their careers. This is not the first time Lobliner has expressed his opinion on obesity. Before this post, he talked about how people lose their life early because of excess weight and how society still seems to be okay with obesity.

Marc Lobliner compares obesity to smoking
Lobliner took to his Instagram account to talk about how the world normalizes obesity. Revealing the sad reality, he said that this might be the reason why individuals are facing health dangers, leading to premature death due to excess weight.
Expressing his concern he said, “We see a lot of these fat people dying. They’re dying because we’re saying it’s okay to be fat.” He also mentioned that being overweight, along with age, was a major factor in health problems during the pandemic. Lobliner also drew similarities between smoking and obesity, saying that normalizing weight gain was like saying that “smoking is good for you.” According to him, both were things that should be avoided.
