The Quaddfather AKA Tom Platz marked the beginning of a golden era in bodybuilding with his incredibly sculpted 30-inch quads and physique along with a highly determined heart. But the one thing that truly set him apart were his 30-inch quadriceps!

The Golden Eagle made his weakness his strength and gained the best quads in the industry. He used to avoid leg day at the gym at the age of 15 but after people started bullying him in high school because of his skinny legs, he started the 15-minute leg to workout routine. His no-quit attitude was the reason that he became one of the legends in the bodybuilding world. A throwback video shows exactly this determination that he had which led to his permanent success.

In a throwback video by MuscleMind.media, the Instagram video showed a clip of young Platz working out in the gym and giving a short interview. During that interview, he started speaking about his inner motivation and how he hated giving up without getting successful or at least trying.

He narrated, “To Me, motivation is, hating to leave the gym I hate to leave the gym and know inside me I could’ve given little more.” He also mentioned that he needed to know that he gave his all and that is why even if he was sick and throwing up in the gym he would still keep going and complete the set. The Golden Eagle did this, “so that I can leave the gym and go ‘I did it. I gave’”

Despite not winning a Mr Olympia title the IFBB Mr. Universe 1980 made his mark with his gigantic physique and amazing personality. He always went the extra mile and always believed in overcoming one’s fears.

The Quadfather has previously motivated the young competitors for the 2023 Mr Olympia and uploaded a throwback video of himself on his Instagram. There he reflected on his thought process as a bodybuilder. The legend mentioned that one cannot be the same if one wants to be a bodybuilder because this sport needs the person to explore the unknown and tap into their fears.

He said, “We want to address feelings and statements that scare you to death you have to face them head-on, go well here I go either die or succeed.” He motivated the younger athletes by saying that one’s hard work is more important and it shows results regardless of genetics or talent or popularity because that is exactly what had happened to him. Ultimately, hard work does pay off.
