Arnold Schwarzenegger has numerous accomplishments to his name. He has been a seven-time Mr. Olympia winner, the action king of Hollywood, and the governor of California for two terms. He has achieved the titles of father, husband, and grandfather on the personal front and has four children with his now ex-wife, Maria Shriver. As of late, the Austrian Oak has been promoting his new self-help book, Be Useful: Seven Tools for Life. He has given several interviews and appearances to promote his motivational book, and in one of the interviews, he talked about a personal matter.

The 76-year-old legend appeared in The View and touched upon several aspects that he had dealt with in his motivational book. While speaking about the upbringing of children, the Terminator actor expressed his gratitude to his ex-wife.

After the Austrian Oak left his country in 1968 to pursue his American dream, the seven-time Mr. Olympia found love and married Kennedy princess Maria Shriver in 1986. They welcomed four children into their lives, and both were very practical and hands-on parents who were involved with the children’s upbringing. Even though he divorced Shriver in 2011 and has been dating 28 years younger Heather Milligan for a decade, he still appreciated his ex-wife’s efforts as a parent.

When the hosts of the show asked him about how he treats his grandchildren and whether he is as strict with them as he was with his kids, the bodybuilding icon had an answer that was expected from any loving grandfather. He said that he pampers his grandchildren to no end and is not as strict with him as he was with his own eldest daughter, Katherine. The Austrian Oak also complimented his daughter, saying, “My daughter is fantastic! She uses all the rules that my wife used to use.”

Even while complimenting his daughter’s parenting methods, Arnie could not forget his ex-wife’s contributions. Schwarzenegger further narrated, “And Maria was a fantastic mother. Still is… Maria had a different approach, the American approach; I had a European approach, but not all the way European.” He also admitted that both were present for their children, but his wife was more present for the kids, as he added, “My wife was there much more.”

He had also expressed that raising children was a far more difficult job than being Mr. Universe, and having the right partner beside him helped him a lot. He dealt with his two daughters and sons with the help of his incredible ex-wife. While talking about his eldest daughter Katherine and her parenting methods, he had previously compared the mother and daughter’s parenting strategies.

While speaking to Jay Shetty in his podcast, the Austrian Oak revealed that Katherine Schwarzenegger and her mother, Maria Shriver, were carbon copies of each other. He said, “Katherine is a carbon copy of Maria, Maria is a carbon copy of Eunice, and Eunice is a carbon copy of Rose Kennedy. So, this is how it goes down. I mean, it’s like, they’re like clones. You know exactly what you get from them.”

Schwarzenegger also noted the fact that he is proud of his firstborn daughter and her husband, Chris Pratt, for their great parenting. The Terminator actor revealed that Katherine has the same values and methods that Maria Shriver used to raise their children. The former governor always stresses that he is proud of his kids and lucky to have had an ex-wife like Shriver.
