Russo recently took to his YouTube channel and posted a video. In his video, he highlighted that a coach serves as a mentor, providing knowledge about nutrition, training methodologies, and overall health. Russo questioned the way celebrity coaches were doing their jobs and felt that they should actually, “hang up the towel and quit.” He said, “Coaching is 24/7 around the clock sucking your brain.” However, he said that with the increasing use of performance-enhancing drugs (PEDs) in the bodybuilding community, a subculture of self-proclaimed experts in drugs has emerged. According to him, these gurus promise bodybuilders enhanced results and rapid progress.

However, he expressed his dismay at how these individuals have transformed the responsible job of coaching into a profit-driven business. He said, “You are selling and writing stuff; you’re making a video topics, two topics a day, and dropping them like crazy.” He argued that coaching requires a personal touch, with coaches dedicating themselves to the well-being and progress of each individual client. However, the gurus have appointed their own subordinates to handle clients, neglecting the importance of personalized attention.

In his video, Russo passionately called upon these gurus to stop neglecting their crucial role as coaches. He highlighted the need for them to take personal responsibility and provide individualized guidance to their clientsHe questioned their motives for continuing to coach if they were unable to provide the necessary attention and support to their clients. “If you cannot supply them with time, stop coaching and neglecting!” By bringing the profit-driven approach of the gurus, Russo effectively challenged them to reassess their priorities and make a choice between being influencers or truly fulfilling their coaching roles.
