Bodybuilder turned Hollywood star Arnold Schwarzenegger might have hoped his entry into the film industry would be unhindered and smooth. However, to his surprise, the actor had to overcome many hurdles to gain recognition in the sphere. One of his initial hit movies, Conan The Barbarian holds a pool of memories for the star, as iterated in a social media post. 

A Reddit post by a user once speculated a particular fact about Arnie’s workout regime. However, the reality of the matter was clarified in the comments by the legend himself, along with a jaw-dropping incident that took place.

As per the age-old update on Reddit, the 75-year-old icon was rumored to have cut down on his workout regime for the movie, because his arm and chest muscles were too big to simulate in the character. Hence, Arnie was unable to wield a sword properly, as per the post. However, this post did not go unnoticed by the actor, as he took to the comments to share his insight on the matter.

Penning down an elaborate note on his “great” memories of the $79 million worth film, Arnie shared that he did not have to compromise his regime. “I had no issue with swinging swords even before I changed my body,” the 6’2 athlete claimed. Whereas, he also revealed a shocking accident that left him with stitches.

“I got attacked by a dog on the very first day of shooting – he pulled me down from the rocks into a thorn bush and I had to be stitched up on the set,” the former athlete narrated. That was not all. The director, John Milius walked up to him and appreciated the incident. He said, “this sets the tone.” Arnie explained that the director meant it in a positive way. Nevertheless, this was only a part of his nightmarish experience during the shoot.

Further into the note, the Austrian Oak also shared that he had a nauseating encounter with a dead vulture. He revealed that as part of a scene, Arnie had to dig his teeth into a real vulture because in those times, making up a clone that seems as real was not possible. 

“I had to bite a real dead vulture because in those days they couldn’t make one that would look good in a close-up. So they soaked it in alcohol to kill bacteria and dried it out. It still had lice,” the actor admitted. Despite the demanding challenges, the actor was determined to ace his character and did not back down.
