Arnold Schwarzenegger’s transition from being in the army to becoming a bodybuilding legend was not a cake walk. To pursue bodybuilding, he left his hometown with a dream to become successful in the field, inspired by the movie character Hercules. His path to success was filled with obstacles, but he never let those hurdles come his way. Schwarzenegger is celebrating the launch of his self-help book ‘Be Useful: Seven Tools for Life, which has achieved the New York Times bestselling book status in this genre.

Earlier, Schwarzenegger was featured in an interview with Elex Michaelson which was uploaded on his YouTube channel. The entire interview was recorded at Gold’s Gym Venice, where the six-time Mr. Olympia used to train. In the conversation, the seven-time Mr. Olympia winner ventured into his past and talked about how important those associated with Gold’s Gym were during his journey.

Arnold Schwarzenegger’s emotional insight about his past

Before talking about his success as an author, the duo began discussing his journey when he first came to Los Angeles. Arnie shared an insight about his friend and the co-founder of Mr. Olympia, Joe Weider. When Schwarzenegger first stepped into America, he had nothing but a dream to reach the top. During his earlier days, it was Weider that helped him out.

The Austrian Oak said, “He says you know you’re a foreigner you’re over there from Germany from Austria he says you don’t have to pay. So then I became the first member that didn’t have to pay and everyone even his closest friends freaked out…” Weier offered Arnie a free membership for the gym, so he could train and build his exceptional muscles. Furthermore, he added how people from the Gold’s gym would visit him and give him dishes, silverware, and things that he needed in his home. “So, I just could I mean I literally had tears in my eyes,” Schwarzenegger said.

 The 76-year-old never let Weider down and won several titles and even worked with the US government to promote fitness and physical education, also did tours in all the states in the country. The Governator also went on to express his gratitude to Weider for helping him in his difficult time.

Schwarzenegger still remains loyal to Gold’s 

Arnie emphasized, “I’ve never had this kind of generosity and inclusion that I felt kind of like they really absorbed me. They really took me with open arms. Brought me into the bodybuilding community, into the Golds gym community. So, this is why I’ve been loyal for all these 55 years now and have been training in Gold’s gym.”

It was people like Joe Weider who ensured that Schwarzenegger felt right at home when he came to this country. That is exactly why he still remains thankful for the friends and the support he found here. However, Schwarzenegger repaid all his debts when he became the governor of California and gave his all to the society that helped him.
