Someone who majorly banked on his self-taught fitness and training knowledge, Yates often takes to social media to reflect on the training techniques he pursued and to comment on the current trends in bodybuilding. Recently, he shared a post on his Instagram account where he threw light on the show-off culture that was prevalent in gyms these days.

6-Time Olympia winner suggests working hard in the gym

In the post, Dorian Yates posted a video in which he talked about how these days people are focused and interested more in clicking pictures than doing workouts. He openly called out those who did not prioritize training while at the gym. He said, “You know, the whole thing is about getting in the gym and training hard and lifting weights. That’s how I did it. That’s how Lee Haney did.” Criticizing the modern bodybuilders, he further said, “And, guys, now they’re more interested in taking a rest and taking their picture and their iPhone and putting it onto Instagram.”

Along with the video, wrote penned a motivating caption,Here’s some motivation for you all heading into the weekend Get in the gym and do the hard work! When you’re in the gym, this is YOUR time to train!.He further suggested, “Make each second in the gym count, make each rep count, make each and every workout count.

Dorian Yates is one of those bodybuilders that lays emphasis on enjoying the journey rather than one’s destination. Rather than praising success, the legend gives priority to the path that was taken. Recently, he had shared his thoughts on this matter.

Dorian Yates reminisces about being at the Olympia

Dorian Yates wrote in one of his Instagram posts, “Enjoy the journey!” He uploaded two images. One showed the legend in 1983, “barely a year into serious bodybuilding training.” In the other, he “was at the highest heights… the Olympia stage,” explained Yates.

Recalling his journey, he said, “I sacrificed a lot in my quest to conquer the bodybuilding world…” However, he didn’t focus majorly on the adversities or challenges he faced throughout his career. “In the end, it all paid off!” he said upholding his belief that eventually hard work pays off.
