Ronnie Coleman is arguably the greatest bodybuilder of all time. Besides winning eight Mr. Olympia titles, he is also among the few who have won the Olympia and the Arnold Classic in the same year. However, Coleman’s immense dedication and will to push his body beyond the limit came at a cost. Now the bodybuilding icon can’t walk without crutches and has undergone multiple surgeries. However, The King uploaded an image from his prime bodybuilding days on Instagram, leaving fans in awe.

During his peak, Ronnie Coleman was among the strongest bodybuilders in the gym. In fact, bodybuilding fans still consider his 800 lbs squat and deadlift legendary. However, multiple injuries and over 13 surgeries have left Coleman with lifelong mobility issues. However, his recent post celebrates the legend in all his glory.

The 59-year-old uploaded a black-and-white image on Instagram of himself from the Mr. Olympia stage in 2005. It was taken when Coleman walked out on stage for his solo posing session. The then seven-time Mr. Olympia has already earned the nickname, The King. So when he walked up on stage, Coleman wore a crown and a cape and carried a staff befitting a king.

The Louisiana native’s 2005 walkout has become one of the most iconic entries. That year, Coleman looked to beat Arnold Schwarzenegger‘s record and equal Lee Haney’s Olympia tally. He was confident and ended up defeating his rival, Jay Cutler. However, 2005 was also the last time The King won a Sandow trophy. He lost to Jay Cutler in 2006, and mounting injuries forced him to retire. However, the bodybuilding world rejoiced to see Coleman in his prime.

Bodybuilding fans gave their verdict

Former 212 Mr. Olympia winner and current Mr. Olympia runner-up Derek Lunsford commented on Coleman’s post. He simply wrote “8x” to signify the monumental achievement of King Coleman. “Ronnie will always be my favorite Bodybuilder,” wrote one fan. Another fan proclaimed the mass monster “The greatest bodybuilder that ever walked this earth.”

You can’t go through the comments on a Ronnie Coleman post and not find someone commenting on his iconic catchphrase. This one was no different, as one fan wrote: “Yeah Buddy, Light Wight Baby.” However, not everyone agreed that the 59-year-old was the G.O.A.T. “If he’s the King, Arnold’s the God,” commented one fan. It’s interesting to note that the eight-time Mr. Olympia himself considers Arnold Schwarzenegger the greatest of all time.
