Seven-time Mr. Olympia?Arnold Schwarzenegger?has always been always concerned about his diet. During his bodybuilding prime, ‘The Austrian Oak’ mostly ate animal protein sources. However, after his heart surgery, the?bodybuilding?legend scrutinized and overhauled his diet. The 75-year-old chose a plant-based diet; while he has meat,?80% of his food is vegan. In the latest edition of ‘Arnold Pump’s Club,’ Arnie wrote about a much-debated, plant-based source of protein.

For decades the bodybuilding and fitness communities have quarreled about the best sources of protein. Since meat is a complete source of protein, it’s the more popular choice. Many vegan athletes have replaced meat with soy, as it’s one of the few plant-based sources of complete protein. However, soy has become a hotly debated topic due to its high estrogen content. In his newsletter, Schwarzenegger provided the latest research on the controversial nutrient source and a neutral perspective.

Arnold Schwarzenegger uncovered the truth about soy

In one of the three segments of his newsletter, Arnold Schwarzenegger defended the nutrient source(soy) from misinformation or outdated opinions. He stated that people who have read about soy must’ve heard about its effects on the male s*x hormone and anti-nutrients. However, he cited 41 meta-analyses that failed to find any negative effect soy had on testosterone.

He also revealed that research shows some of the?“anti-nutrients are 98 percent reduced,”?while grinding or cooking soy.?“Diets higher in soy are linked with nearly 20 percent less risk for cardiovascular disease, stroke, and coronary heart disease,”?revealed the bodybuilding legend. However, Schwarzenegger is aware of the divide soy has created in the fitness community.

“I know this is going to make some of you go ballistic. If it does, take a breath. You don’t have to eat soy,”?Arnie wrote in his newsletter. The former Mr. Olympia stated facts and didn’t intend to take sides while providing the information. He wrote in his newsletter that soy is a preference, like meat. Those who do not want to eat it have alternatives to choose from. He also clarified his intentions.

The bodybuilding icon isn’t pushing any particular diet

In his newsletter, Arnold Schwarzenegger wrote that he doesn’t have any hidden agenda for promoting a particular way of eating. While some media outlets hype individual studies for views, Arnie aims to bring clarity.?”We just want to share the latest studies without the hype,”?he wrote.

The 75-year-old told his readers to eat what they want and rather try to make a healthy routine.
