The three-time Mr. Olympia champion recently posted a post on his Instagram sharing the exercise split he used to follow back in the day that made Zane who he is right now. Let’s find out how the god of aesthetics used to train.

The 81-year-old former bodybuilder captioned the image and workout as “Balanced Workout Split.” Zane divided his workout into a three-way split. On day one, he used to train and focus on his upper body by performing all the pulling exercises. Exercises like deadlifts, pull-downs, and pull-ups are considered pulling exercises.

The three-time Mr. Olympia suggested a proper format for performing pulling exercises. He wrote, “You should do this in train, rest, train, train, rest format.” Further, the 81-year-old former bodybuilder explained that one should not train his upper body for two straight days in a row. He highlighted that this will lead to the wear of your shoulders.

The god of aesthetics explained that “too much upper body work is going to get to you.” Moreover, he mentioned that you might get lucky and not experience wearing out of your shoulder at a young age. But things will eventually change when you start to age. Earlier, the three-time Mr. Olympia disclosed his secret behind sculpting a perfectly proportional physique, suggesting taking adequate time and enjoying every step. 

Zane revealed the secret behind sculpting a symmetrical physique

There is no rush to build a symmetrical proportionate body,” explains the chemist. Following the god of aesthetics advice, one should not go running after a perfectly proportionate physique. He stressed the importance of checking the feedback your body gives you over time on your progress. The main thing Zane emphasized was not overdoing yourself in the race to look perfect.

Zane also shed light on the fact that taking pictures of your progress keeps you motivated toward your goal. He suggests focusing on things that make you feel better rather than the numbers of your reps, weights, and sets. In the end, he advised everyone to follow the workout regime that suits them and keep going.
