The English bodybuilder shared a monochrome of him deadlifting weights. He elaborates on his workout manual in the caption of the post. “It was one chance per week!” he wrote. Yates revealed that he would train one muscle per week, throughout his entire professional career.

This counts to 45 workouts annually after considering the rest weeks. “So one chance, each week to truly try to stimulate each muscle. I did not let a single workout go to waste, I gave it my all each and every session,” he adds, reflecting his sincerity toward his training regime.

Though Yates’s workout sessions were brief, he would make sure they were ‘brutally intense’. He opted for the High-Intensity-Training method to build muscles. However, such a method requires a resting phase for better results, in his opinion.

Yates’s workouts were intensity based

Unlike his contemporaries, Yates relied on lifting heavy weights for a smaller number of reps and sets. He used to take a week off after six weeks of intense training. He believes that the “deload” week is crucial.
