Three-time Mr. Olympia Frank Zane is still actively coaching people despite being 81. However, he doesn’t just limit his wisdom to those he personally coaches but also to anyone willing to build an aesthetic physique. The man who defeated Arnold Schwarzenegger at the Mr. Universe explained how you can improve weakness and build a more balanced physique.

Frank Zane is well aware of the fact that only a handful of people are gifted with elite genetics. However, while most people have multiple weak body parts, it doesn’t mean they can’t build a proportionate physique. In a recent Instagram post, the bodybuilding icon explained that the first step is to identify which body parts are weak and which are dominant.

“Once you realize your weaker areas, start your workout with this body part,” advises Frank Zane. The Chemist who has experimented with various training approaches also explained which exercise you should choose. According to the King of Aesthetics, you should “use the exercises that give you the best pump.”

The Golden Era legend often advises people to follow the middle ground between intensity and volume. However, this time he told people to feel “best pump,” in the weak body part, which means increased blood flow. However, he also recommended how to train the body parts that are already dominant. Frank Zane said to “ease up” on the “already well-developed” body parts.

Since a bodybuilder is the strongest at the start of the workout, starting with the weaker body part also makes sense. Hence, Frank Zane recommends training your weakness more while maintaining muscle mass of the dominant muscle groups. According to the former champion, you’ll slowly but surely build a better physique. In fact, it was a weak body part that cost Arnold Schwarzenegger a victory against the bodybuilding legend.

The former Mr. Olympia described young Arnold Schwarzenegger in 1968 asbig and bulky with no legs.” Schwarzenegger later confessed that he indeed had disproportionate legs. However, the seven-time Mr. Olympia did exactly what the 81-year-old advised in his Instagram post. The Terminator trained his legs and calves and terminated his weakness. So Frank Zane’s solution could be perfect if you are also struggling to improve any weak body parts.
