Fasted workouts have always been a hot topic of debate in the bodybuilding industry. But the 43-year-old IFBB Pro, Marc Lobliner, is here to save the day by spilling beans on the fasted workout’s advantages and disadvantages.

Recently, he uploaded a video on his YouTube channel, Tiger Fitness, addressing the issue of whether training on an empty stomach is a good idea or not. He gave examples of his gym buddies, the Hodgetwins, and how they trained on empty stomachs.

Marc Lobliner highlighted that not eating before your training leads to increased fat burning because there’s no glucose in your body. That leads to an increase in growth hormone release. He added,” That doesn’t matter whether you burn fat or carbohydrate all comes down to caloric balance at the end of the day.”

The IFBB Pro shared the data from research spotlighting people who took a pre-workout carbohydrate diet before the workout outperformed those who didn’t in strength training and performance gains in most cases. However, the Hodgetwins found out through a hit-and-trial approach that they performed better with a fasting diet when compared to eating before a workout.

The Pro’s business partner, Sean, also followed the same routine of not eating before working out. The pro shared that he doesn’t have the same luxury of performing better without eating. He emphasized that he would go on a rampage if he hit the gym before eating something. It happens because the pro has a high metabolism rate, so he cannot follow the eating before routine.

Lastly, Marc Lobliner emphasized the significance of adopting a routine that is tailored to your individual needs and body type. It’s up to you if you want to train without eating beforehand or afterward. Just like Lobliner gave his insights on the eating routine, he also gave his insights on the benefits of creatine.

Marc Lobliner encourages creatine consumption regardless of your age

According to the research done on the young and elderly population, the results showed that creatine is positive for both generations. He added, “We found that it not only does it 100% increase physical performance, but it also prevents neurodegenerative diseases,” like dementia and Alzheimer’s. Creatine also helps to recover from sarcopenia, which leads to the gradual loss of muscle mass and strength.

The Pro also highlighted there are no side effects of creatine on your body. Unlike other supplements, creatine doesn’t affect your blood pressure or cause any damage to your kidneys and is the safest supplement. He explained that creatine is found naturally and is a combination of three amino acids.
