IFBB pro bodybuilder and coach Marc Lobliner reminded people of something he said eight years ago. It was about people copying the diets of some of the greatest pro-bodybuilders in history. Many think they could achieve similar results by following a pro bodybuilder’s diet. However, Marc Lobliner explained why such tactics do not work.
The bodybuilding coach hit his viewers with a blast from the past in his latest video. He re-uploaded the old video and asked if his fans still think what he said nearly a decade ago still holds up. Most people looking to get into bodybuilding or fitness design their diets by measuring macro and micronutrients. However, the 43-year-old said that a pro bodybuilder doesn’t do that.
As odd as that might sound, the IFBB pro said that experienced pro bodybuilders have been measuring food for so long that after a point, they “just eyeball” the amount. The bodybuilder recounted his experience hanging around bodybuilding legends like Ronnie Coleman, Phil Heath, and more. “A lot of these pros, they simply go to restaurants and eat clean,” said Lobliner.

He recounted how Phill Heath went to eat at Tokyo Joe’s three weeks ahead of the Olympia, ate what he thought was right, and it didn’t affect his prep. Where a regular person might have to think and count calories, a pro bodybuilder often makes adjustments while staying within their calorie budget. Another reason why copying a diet doesn’t work is because of how much a pro eats.
While a regular guy might struggle with 3000 calories, an IFBB Pro bodybuilder sticks to ridiculous calories during the off-season. Lobliner mentioned watching Akim Williams eat an entire pizza for breakfast. Why? Because Williams trains so hard that he needs 9000 calories during the offseason, according to Lobliner. Hence, it’s better to design a diet that suits you.

However, the IFBB pro bodybuilder said people should take tips from competitive bodybuilders. In fact, Lobliner himself gave diet tips that’ll help anyone get shredded.

The veteran bodybuilder revealed the secret to getting shredded
Marc Lobliner explained that an IFBB Pro bodybuilder often focuses on three macronutrients: Protein, carbohydrates, and fats. When a pro decides to get shredded for a competition, he eats those nutrients at a particular ratio. “High protein, moderate carb, low fat,” said the 43-year-old bodybuilding coach.
Protein is indispensable because it helps maintain muscle mass during the cutting phase. “Protein has the lowest calories per gram of any macronutrient,” said the bodybuilder, which is a bonus. Anyone looking to get shredded should also eat low fat. The only variable, according to Lobliner, is carbs. While he recommended moderate carbs, that can be lowered if needed.
