The bodybuilding world was stunned when Wesley Vissers emerged as the new champion in the classic physique division at the Arnold Classic 2024. The recently crowned champion has now met with five-time Mr. Olympia Chris Bumstead, along with Urs Kalecinski and former Arnold Classic champ Ramon Dino, for an Olympia battle. What made this collaboration interesting was Bumstead advising Vissers to concentrate on bigger goals solely.

Amidst their intense workout session, the elite bodybuilders took a break to exchange thoughts, and Vissers revealed his plan to participate in a pro show in the Netherlands after a considerable hiatus.

The reigning Mr. Olympia, Bumstead, had some invaluable advice for his upcoming competitor. Vissers admitted that he had contemplated participating in various shows over the years, but now, with guidance pouring in, he was inclined to focus solely on the Olympia.

Bumstead interjected, “Focus on what’s important,” emphasizing the significance of prioritizing goals. The Dutch Oak agreed wholeheartedly and acknowledged the wisdom in Bumstead’s words. In a light-hearted moment, the soon-to-be a father, humorously shared, “That would be my advice as a friend, but if you’re a competitor, I would tell you to do it, do every show.” Vissers joined in the laughter, highlighting the camaraderie between the athletes.

Despite not anticipating the turn of events that led to his Arnold Classic victory, Vissers emphasized the importance of adapting plans in the dynamic world of bodybuilding. “I never planned on this to happen like this, of course, but I think it’s important to change plans when necessary. I honestly didn’t expect for this to happen, of course, wished for it to happen, but for it to actually happen is a different story. Now everything has changed, so exciting stuff,” Vissers shared, encapsulating the unpredictable journey of a champion in the making.

The athletes didn’t just come together for a conversation, though. Like what we expect during other bodybuilder collaborations, the four engaged in a workout battle, as well.

The battle between the elite athletes

The Olympia battle was a special training session where the champ picked the workouts for everyone. CBum chose chest workouts for them to engage in and according to the rules, they split into teams—CBum and Vissers vs. Dino and Kalecinski. For the first exercise, they hit the pec-deck machine for over 3 chest sets, guided by IFBB Pro Chris Cormier.

Transitioning to incline dumbbells, they bantered and bonded. The focus turned to mind-muscle connection, form, and dedication talks. The athletes’ strength and determination shone. Kalecinski’s power even earned him the “miracle bear” title, breaking a cable machine.

As time flies by, fans eagerly anticipate seeing these contenders grace the Mr. Olympia stage in 2024. However, with Vissers now holding the Arnold Classic title, some wonder if he could potentially dethrone the reigning champion, CBum, who currently holds the advantage.
