Chris Bumstead’s saga in the bodybuilding world is a true testament to dedication, resilience, and a sheer commitment to nothing but perfection. However, the road to Olympus has not been a smooth ride for the 5-time champion. Starting from the first time when he decided to become a bodybuilder and drop out of school, it’s been a long hard ride. 

His parents always wanted him to finish his degree rather than drop out and they had been pretty much stern about it. However, he too was stern, and looked where his zeal for chasing his dreams has brought him! Yet, he unravels that his parents are still certain that getting the degree is a great option. Here’s what he confessed.

Chris Bumstead’s mother still wants him to get a degree

In a recently posted video, Chris Bumstead is seen revealing how even to this date, his mother still wants him to go back and get a degree. Although he appreciates it, but, he said, “I don’t think I need it Mom”.

He then went on to narrate the story of when he decided to drop out of school. It was very important for his parents that he finished school, but for CBum that wasn’t the case. And thus, when he took the step, he knew that he had to make it his life and give it a lot more of his seriousness than what he would do in school.

The 5X Mr. Olympia champion said, “This isn’t like a lazy excuse to leave school. This is like I’m putting more effort into this than I would a career in school and this is going to be my everything.” Well,  it undoubtedly was the best decision that he had ever taken, and him lifting the prestigious Sandow trophy for the fifth time, despite all that he has been through, says it all!

Chris Bumstead gets emotional after his comeback

Chris Bumstead made sure that he came in the best form in 2023, and as he lifted his fifth Sandow trophy, Bob Chicken asked him how he felt about this sweet victory. It was then that he could no longer hold back his emotions and unraveled his struggle to get to the podium. He said, “I was going through some shit being in this prep, some personal shit. My body started to shut down, and I honestly tore my lat, like ten weeks out; no one even knows, and then it was like no training for a while”.

However, despite all the persuasion to get a degree, at the end of the day, it was his family and fiance who stood behind him, giving him rock-solid support. He owes it entirely to them!
