The eight-time Mr. Olympia, Ronnie Coleman, was famous for showcasing his immense strength and heavy lifts back in his prime. But have you ever wondered what it’ll be like to see him participate in the World’s Strongest Man Championship? The current Mr. World’s Strongest Man title holder recently made his thoughts on Coleman’s chances if he had participated in the event.

Bodybuilding Instagram page generationiron shared a post featuring Mitchell Hooper, aka the Canadian Powerhouse, who seemed convinced that Coleman could have won the Strongman title. However, Hooper’s answer split bodybuilding fans into two groups and sparked a debate in the comment section.

In the post, the Canadian Hooper highlighted Coleman’s training method, which he used to follow back when he won his last Olympia title in 2005. The current Strongman was convinced by the King’s 2005 physique and mentioned, “Coleman competed in shape, with some modern level of directed strongman training at the 2005 World Strongest Man is possible that Ronnie Coleman could have been crowned.”

Mariusz Pudzianowski held the World’s Strongest Man title back in 2005. He was a tough competitor to beat at that time. Pudzianowski won the Strongman titles in 2002, 2003, 2005, and 2007 and was the runner-up in the 2006 and 2009 championships. That is not all there is to it. Generation Iron added one more slide of Coleman to the post showcasing him setting a new record by doing two reps of an 800-pound squat. This is one of the most iconic videos of Coleman’s career and makes a pretty strong case for itself.

On the other hand, Coleman has more deadly lifts to his name. He deadlifted 800 pounds for two reps back in 2000, bench-pressed 500 pounds in 2003 and dumbbell bench-pressed 200 pounds for twelve reps in 2000. These records make a pretty convincing case for Coleman to win the title of the World’s Strongest Man. A proportion of fans seemed convinced, while others gave reasons why Coleman was not a perfect fit for the Strongest Man category.

Fans left confused over Coleman’s chances

A critic commented on Coleman’s standing at the Strongest Man Championship and wrote, “And to think he was like 4 weeks out from the Olympia when he did those lifts when he was depleted, dehydrated with super low body fat. I think for sure he would of at the very least been top 3.” Another fan highlighted that the King would be injured if he participated in the WSM and wrote, “Nah he would be battling lifelong injuries if he did.” Among these comments, an Instagram user shed light on Coleman’s height and how it might not have helped his case. “The height is important too. And Ronnie’s under 6ft,” they wrote.

A fan of the King wrote, “I think a guy like Ronnie could have been at the top of any strength related sport he decided to train for and pursue. He had the genetics, drive, discipline and willingness to do what was necessary.” Another admirer commented on the dedication and willpower of the eight-time Mr. Olympia and wrote, “I would never doubt that the GOAT could do anything he put his mind to.” A fan simply highlighted that Coleman could have definitely won. “If he was training specifically for strength and not body building. 100%. He was a freak,” they wrote.
