These days, the online fitness community has become skeptical due to the influx of ‘fake natty’ influencers like the Liver King. So whenever one posts their transformation story online, claiming to be natural, many people accuse them of hiding the truth. The veteran bodybuilding coach Sean Nalewanyj analyzed one such transformation video where people accused a bodybuilder of being enhanced.

The fitness influencer analyzed the “natural” bodybuilding transformation of Jason Bjarnson. The 26-year-old calisthenics enthusiast posted his 10-year transformation video, in which, he showed his complete transformation from a 15-year-old, lanky track-and-field athlete to a jacked and shredded bodybuilder. Nalewanyj used science to challenge those calling Bjarnson “not natural.”

The fitness coach explained that the youngster’s physique was nothing “too crazy.” Jason Bjarnson has “top tier structural genetics,” and combined with “good lighting,” would make him “exaggeratedly big on camera,” according to Nalewaynj. The fitness coach also revealed that Jason Bjarnson stands 5’8″ tall and “only” weighs 159 lbs. By no means is he a mass monster.

Sean Nalewaynj called out the keyboard warriors of the fitness community. “You can’t accurately judge someone’s true size through photos and videos alone,” said the bodybuilding coach. So, the veteran coach uses the 26-year-old’s stats and science to explain why he has a high probability of being a true natty. “At roughly 7% body fat, his FFMI would still be below 23,” Nalewaynj said.

FFMI, or the fat-free mass index, is often considered more accurate than BMI, and many use it to gauge if a bodybuilder is natural. The fitness influencer said that even if Bjarnson added 10 lbs of extra lean muscle mass, his FFMI would fall within the natural bodybuilder range. Nalewaynj also touched on how height, weight, and body fat are closely related to bodybuilding. For this, he had used Sam Sulek as an example.

Nalewaynj critiques Sam Sulek

Sean Nalewanyj critiqued a Sam Sulek video where the 21-year-old said weighing below 200 lbs is a crime. The Nalewaynj said some young lifters might get the wrong message and chase it. However, if someone below 6 ft chased the over 200 lbs weight goal as a natural, their body fat percentage would be too high.

As his Sulek video also explained, for someone around Jason Bjarnson’s height to weigh over 200 lbs while staying lean might be impossible to do naturally. Young lifters might end up “fat and injured” trying to chase such an arbitrary weight goal. Since Bjarnson weighs well below 200 lbs, it’s another indication for the fitness influencer that he is a natural lifter. So, who do you agree with? Nalewanyj or the spektics?
