According to Cutler, there are a few reasons why stress can affect muscle growth. This can range from higher cortisol levels leading to lower testosterone levels and the body eating into amino acid pools when stressed, causing the body to go into a catabolic state. On top of that, Cutler reveals how stress will also lead to a lack of proper sleep. “When you can’t get enough “REM” sleep it means your central nervous system is more likely to be fatigued, ” he explained. That being said, he did have a few suggestions to eradicate such issues.
Cutler is blunt with his words when he asks fitness enthusiasts to “cut out any BS in your life which keeps creating aggravation.” He further advises people to stay away from those who bring unnecessary stress to their lives. To deal with the effect on sleep, Cutler suggests reducing screen time by not staying up late on one’s cell phone and “making sleep a priority”. “If you go too long without food your body will become even more stressed,” he adds while recommending that regular meals should be consumed every three hours.
While one sidesteps stress using Cutler’s tips, one will also have to follow a proper process for muscle growth. Previously, the bodybuilder had divulged the process that will help one improve their muscles.
