Arnold Schwarzenegger comes from a military family, and he also served in the army for several years. Even now at 76, he maintains a disciplined lifestyle. In his new book ‘Be Useful: Seven Tools for Life,’ he emphasizes the importance of discipline, a value he’s practiced throughout his life. The bodybuilding legend managed to pass down this legacy to his children.
Earlier, the seven-times Mr. Olympia was on the Graham Norton Show with Jack Whitehall. They engaged in an interesting conversation that revolved around Whitehalls’s recent documentary project and the topic of parenting. Since Jack had also become a parent recently, he politely asked the father of five for some lessons on raising a child.

In this snippet, Arnie gave a glimpse into his surprising role as the ‘Terminator of Household Chores.’ He candidly revealed how he and his ex wife-Maria Shriver split responsibilities when it came to raising their children. While his wife focused on education and nurturing their kids into good human beings, Arnie took charge of the discipline and taught his children some valuable life skills.
The Austrian Oak said in the video, “I think that the important thing what my wife and I we kind of split up the responsibilities yeah uh she was in charge of education and of uh making them really good human beings yeah and uh.” He further mentioned, “I was in charge of the discipline.”
When asked what his disciplining entailed, the 7-time Olympia winner explained, “Uh not to waste water because you know we have droughts in California. By the time they were like five-six years old they had to wash their own clothes and their bed sheets and make their own bed and so I taught them how to do that.”
He explained that he was responsible for instilling essential habits in children from a delicate age. He didn’t just set the rule, instead, he guided and taught them to understand their responsibility, and how to be independent individuals. Because throughout his life he lived independently before he got married to Shriver in 1986.

Schwarzenegger’s children and his divorce
After being married for three years Schwarzenegger and Shriver had their first baby, Katherine. Then in the year 1991, they welcomed their second daughter Christina, followed by their son Patrick, and their fourth child Christopher.
The former Mr. Universe, confessed in 2011, after his service as the Governor of California ended, he admitted to having another child, Joseph, from a previous affair with their housemaid, Mildred Baena.
