Ronnie Coleman and Arnold Schwarzenegger recently made it to the headlines after the duo trained together at the ‘Mecca of bodybuilding,’ where Arnold has been training since his first visit to America. The gym has been the home of multiple bodybuilding veterans and legends. Coleman and Schwarzenegger trained shoulders and arms together and made several videos together as well.
During Arnold’s recent YouTube video featuring Coleman at the Gold’s Gym in Venice, Arnold projected the difference between a seven-time Mr. Olympia like himself and an astounding eight-time Mr. Olympia, like Ronnie Coleman. His comment was based on Coleman’s applaudable determination and dedication to push himself despite working out in a wheelchair.

Life has not been entirely fair to Coleman. While bodybuilding enthusiasts often aspire to be like ‘The King’ by watching his iconic lifts, the pain that he went through as a consequence of heavy lifting throughout his career is something that arguably no one can relate to. He underwent 13 surgeries on his back and is probably now in a wheelchair for the rest of his life. However, what surprises most individuals is the fact that Coleman has no regrets. His only regret is that he did not perform a second rep on his famous 800-pound squat.
During their training session together, Coleman trained till failure, pushing his body to its maximum potential. As a result, while doing shoulder press on a machine, he performed more reps than Arnold Schwarzenegger. After a grueling set of 15 reps, Schwarzenegger stated, “Look at those reps; how can anyone keep up with this stuff? You see, that’s the difference between a 8X Mr. Olympia and a mere 7X Mr. Olympia. This is what the difference is right there. It’s very visual; you can see it; everyone can see it.”
Schwarzenegger concluded by saying, “The way you pound out the reps, and I’m struggling.” Before this instance, one of the comments by Coleman just before they started their workout together made Schwarzenegger feel embarrassed.

Coleman’s comments humbled Arnold
Arnold Schwarzenegger was already on the lateral raise machine when Coleman walked into the gym. While exchanging greetings, Coleman asked Schwarzenegger if he was warming up. To this, Schwarzenegger replied by jokingly saying, “I can’t believe that you got to the Gold’s gym and insult me right off the top, saying, “Is this your warmup weight?” I mean what is going on here…This is the ultimate weight for me.”
