The world changed once and for all on August 6, 1945, when Little Boy landed on Hiroshima, as people realized the era of nuclear weapons was here. Now Hollywood is gearing up for the World War II saga as Christopher Nolan has to tell the story of The Father of the Atomic Bomb, J. Robert Oppenheimer. Cillian Murphy plays the lead in this scientific thriller.

Notably, this is the first time Murphy plays the lead in Nolan’s movie. In an interview with The New York Times, the 47-year-old spilled the beans on his preparation for the role of Oppenheimer.

The American government decided to stop World War II and chose J. Robert Oppenheimer to lead the Manhattan Project to create the first nuclear weapon. It forms the crux of Christopher Nolan’s film “Oppenheimer”. The intense gaze of the scientist on the cover of his biography, American Prometheus, by Kai Bird and Martin J. Sherwin made Nolan offer the role of the scientist to the blue-eyed Cillian Murphy.

But to suit the thin frame of the Atomic Bomb creator, Murphy, who charged $10 Million for this over $100 Million movie, had to lose a lot of weight. Referring to Oppenheimer, Murphy said in the interview with the New York Times that “he was very slim, almost emaciated, existed on martinis and cigarettes.

Murphy is known for his convincing portrayal of roles, making it easy for the audience to navigate with him through the story. He confessed his love of acting with his body, and to perfect the silhouette of the physicist, Murphy lost a few pounds through strict diet regimes. However, he advised against his competitive attitude while losing weight for the role.
