Arnold Schwarzenegger, in his recently released docuseries, ‘Arnold,’ got candid and mentioned many details of several topics that the public might not be aware of. The Austrian Oak’s journey towards success is put in three parts in the Netflix docuseries which has some stunning revelations from his life. In episode 3, titled ‘American‘, the Terminator actor opened up about the reasons behind his contesting for the position of Governor.

In the episode, he revealed his then-wife, Maria Shriver’s gesture that made him more confident to run for the gubernatorial elections back in 2003.

Maria Shriver’s note for Arnold Schwarzenegger

On 6th August 2003, Americans were eagerly waiting for The Tonight Show with Jay Leno. The famous bodybuilder and the Terminator franchise actor, Schwarzenegger, would announce his decision of running for the post of Governor. That morning, however, Maria Shriver had something to say to her then-husband. Shriver passed a note about her thoughts on his political debut under the bathroom door.

“The morning of the Tonight Show, Maria actually put a note under my bathroom door that said, ‘In case you decide to run here’s what I would say,’” revealed the 75-year-old. She even put her thought about him not participating in the election as well in the note. “Maria for the first time, is open to the idea. That feels great!” added a Nostalgic Schwarzenegger. Shriver, though was not completely fine with him running for the elections, for the first time she was not completely against the idea.

When the host enquired about his candidature and the reason for him running in the elections, later that evening, Arnie retorted, “The man that is failing the people more than anyone is Gray Davis.” According to the actor, the former governor of California, Grey Davis, was failing terribly, and the people needed a change. “And this is why I’m going to run for governor of the state of California,” he announced on the show to a cheering crowd. This isn’t the first time the actor felt great about his ex-wife.

After the End of Days actor’s affair led to the divorce between him and Maria Shriver, the couple always maintained a cordial bond. The bodybuilding legend is proud of how he and Shriver raised their kids irrespective of their personal crises and would award an Oscar for their parenting.

“If there’s Oscars for how to handle divorce, Maria and I should get it for having the least amount of impact on the kids,” the actor said. Arnie and Shriver are also noted for not skipping all the family celebrations with kids, even after a painful past.
