Bodybuilding legend, Arnold Schwarzenegger’s pertinent fitness lifestyle is a point of wonder to many. Shedding light on the same, he was recently interviewed by notable personality and chef, Jose Andres in a joint podcast effort, by Andres’ Longer Tables podcast and the latter’s Arnold’s Stammish podcast, on YouTube. The chef pondered over Schwarzenegger’s contributions in the kitchen, if he makes his food himself or has appointed help for the work.
Responding to that, the icon revealed the simple yet essential diet routine that keeps him going even at 75. He shared that he usually eats out during his breakfast time, skipping lunch and resorting to a “very light” dinner platter.

The interview surfaced on Tuesday, featuring the two icons talking about their similar backgrounds and great success. Simultaneously, the Spanish-American chef was keen to know how The Austrian Oak takes his food proportions. Therefore, the latter promptly iterated his drill for the day, claiming his foremost work is to feed his pets and then go to and fro to the gym on his bike. It is followed by his breakfast at his go-to restaurant, and then directly a light meal for dinner, particularly, cucumber salad and vegetable soup.
“But then really no hard or heavy food at all…this way I cut down on my calorie intake, carbs and everything like this,” the IFBB pro shared. Moreover, he asserted that the body’s metabolism at a declining age is slowed, thus, all the intakes significantly add to body weight.
He implied, “When you get to my age, your metabolism slows down, so everything you eat just makes you heavier. So you have to be just careful about that.” In contrast to the legend’s current diet regime, his bodybuilding days encircled a massive amount of calories that boosted his triumphs in the domain.

As per sources, the 75-year-old champion swore by a diet of 2750 calories. He had three scrambled eggs for breakfast along with a cup of oatmeal, orange juice, and a glass of low-fat milk. Further into the day, his mid-day meals included a nutty meal with fruits followed by a nutritious lunch. Needless to say, his workouts were equally intense.
Later on, his post-workout meal included three slices of cheese and a banana, flushed down with water. His protein shake had 25g milk protein, 25g egg protein, and 8-12 oz low-fat milk, which he gulped moments after his exercises. Unlike now, his dinner comprised of heavy ingredients like 8 oz lean-cut grilled beef, one large baked potato, a large salad, concluded by another glass of low-fat milk. All in all, his former diet was calculated to be 256g of protein, 271g of carbs, and 90g of fat.
