The four-time Mr. Olympia Classic Physique winner is gearing up for his fifth Olympia in 2023. The 28-year-old man standing tall at 6?,1″, happy and engaged with his fianc? works extremely hard towards his bodybuilding passion. The man is calm as a cucumber while owning a million-dollar supplement company (RAW Nutrition) as well as a gym. His life seems perfect, right? However, that is not always the case.

Through autoimmune diseases, medical checkups, and the sadness of the possibility of retirement, he still strives to win the biggest trophy of the year, without uttering a single word of rage. This man is none other than Chris Bumstead, who showed his thought process in a four-minute video named Prep Series 2023 |No Quit.

Chris Bumstead narrates the challenges he faced?

The video starts with an echoing applause from the audience as CBum wins his fourth consecutive Olympias. Then everything goes black and the typical alarm clock tone is heard. Bumstead wakes up and starts his daily routine of calculated nutrition, and precise weightlifting exercises.

However, while doing these daily routines, which are like muscle memory to him now, he has thoughts storming his mind. Viewers can hear these thoughts as monologues in the YouTube video. The IFBB pro starts off by questioning why he started this journey in the first place. He narrates, “Every year brings new challenges this year certainly hasn?t been short of them.? Bumstead gives a glimpse into the deepest side of his psyche, ?I tossed and turned at night, stuck in my thoughts, staring at the ceiling asking myself. Why am I doing this then if this is even worth it?? However, even after questioning his passion, he looks at the bright side and explains that he tries to be more present in the moment and enjoy the process.?

Along with the positive outcomes, there are negative setbacks as well. He narrated, ?It feels like every time I get into the good? groove everything falls apart.? Even if the journey was beautiful, 2023 was testing him. The monologue went on, ?Extreme life changes, living in fear, health scares, injuries, personal stress, more and more responsibilities. It?s funny more difficult your goals become more challenges life throws at you.? The biggest health scare that he had got was from IGA nephropathy, which is an auto-immune disease that affects the kidneys. Even after that, he has decided to participate in the Olympias, and it shows that he has a “no quit” attitude.

The champion bodybuilder had previously penned?down an emotional statement on his Instagram account. Many feared an imminent retirement. However, Bumstead clarified, ?That day maybe soon, it may be far. I honestly don?t know. All I know is that it is not right now.??

As he faces more difficulties in preparing for his fifth title, he does not lose his confidence or determination. The 2023 prep video also has his monologue about the support he receives from his family and friends as well as fans, which keep him going.
