With the advent of rigorous competition in the bodybuilding community, the concept of ego lifting has been rapidly spreading. Athletes are now often concerned about who lifts heavier, instead of keeping a check on the right form. In a recent turn of events, a video of one such gymgoer in the act of ego-lifting has been doing rounds on the internet.

While the IFBB Pro Coach, Greg Doucette, just like he does with every other bodybuilder not abiding by gym etiquette, pointed a finger at the ego-lifter, turns out that he was not the only one. The immensely dangerous stance, with the extremely heavy weights being lifted, managed to irritate the fitness community as well.

Greg Doucette recently took to his official Instagram account and shared a video of a netizen pulling out an intensely heavy rep of leg press in the gym. In the video, the gymgoer took only half a rep of the set. Looking at the number of plates added for the workout, the IFBB Pro coach wrote, “Bro doing too much.”

Greg Doucette even mocked him in the caption, writing,More weights than last time … but can you get a full rep!” Apart from the fact that he only went halfway up, the scariest part of the workout was that the gymgoer locked his knee to take a pause. This can be extremely dangerous when you are performing a leg press, especially with heavy weights in use.

The video raised the eyebrows of many in the fitness community. They took turns to bash the gym goer, pinpointing every aspect of where he went wrong and how he should have been more careful.

The fitness community left furious at the act of ego-lifting

Many from the bodybuilding world came together to school the gymgoer by commenting on Greg Doucette’s post. They showered his post with comments like, “Pov: everyone in the gym hates you” and “He got a better workout loading that shit.”

Another Instagram user focused on the fact that the gymgoer was doing more work than he should be doing and wrote, “Rofl. Twice the work for half gains. Full reps with half weight are better. This is ego-lifting at its finest.” While another, complaining about the lack of supervision in the gym, commented, “How is there no staff preventing this dumb sh*t even happening.”
