The King of bodybuilding, Ronnie Coleman once shed light on his career?s most painful defeat. One might assume it was his long rival, Jay Cutler, but to everyone?s astonishment, it was IFBB pro, Lee Priest. In 1997, the Australian athlete defeated Coleman at the Mr. Olympia; a year after the latter?s first-ever win. This left him humbled and the community in awe of the 5?4 icon.?

After retiring and achieving great things, Priest recently appeared in a YouTube interview with RxMuscle. During the interview, he shared his perspective on modern-day pro athletes. Like many former athletes, Priest expressed a critical viewpoint and discussed how things should have been done differently.

As per the interview which surfaced today, the 50-year-old got candid and chatted about the sport?s evolution and how the quality of athletes has deteriorated. Speaking of Pro shows, Priest passed a demeaning remark on the competitors. He said they seemed like “pot plants” on stage, whose names he doesn?t even know, in contrast to what was the case in the past.?

?I watch these Pro shows, and I see these people standing on stage like pot plants, don?t know their names, back in the day?you knew everyone?s name,? the former champion shared. Moreover, he was irked by the fact that numerous athletes now gain some form of recognition from the plethora of events in the sport today. He continued, ?You know every pro show was top-quality guys minus Mr. Olympia. Now, everyone gets a trophy bu**sh*t.? As per him, the sport of bodybuilding must limit the categories to a meager few.?

Priest mocked, ?Only open bodybuilding open for the women and the fitness, Physique, bikini, wellness, go to your male model, girl pageants at Hawaiian Tropics because you?re f****** useless.? His primary point was, everyone wants to call themselves pros without even putting in the required work. Hence, everyone must compete in the amateur category until they go pro. Interestingly, Priest?s expertise in the domain once won him the greatest title against the greatest bodybuilder.?

During an interview, Ronnie Coleman, also known as The King, was asked about the most significant and painful defeat in his career. In 2019, he surprised many by stating that it was not his rivalry with Jay Cutler, but his loss to The Blond Myth, who fell just 7 inches short of becoming the champion.

Hence, the American icon admitted, ?My most painful would be losing to Lee Priest.? Interestingly, his pain stems from the fact that Priest was a ?little guy? in comparison to him, yet, he got defeated, also breaking his consecutive win streak.?
