On 2nd May 2023, Chef José Andrés posted a joint episode of Andrés Longer Table Podcast and Arnold’s Stammtisch. From talking about the gift from his Spanish friend to the reason behind changing his diet, Schwarzenegger got candid about his personal life. Addressing Schwarzenegger’s motto of bringing people together, Andrés even asked him how he does it. On this, Schwarzenegger revealed that the key is to not villainize anyone. He states that it is counterproductive and suggests standing united.
Schwarzenegger continued, “And it doesn’t matter if it’s about the Russian war against Ukraine, or if it is the insurrection on January 6th, or if it is the prejudice and the hatred that we see around the world growing and growing against Jewish people, or Black people, or Black people against white people, and men against women, women against men.” Saddened by the situation, he exclaimed, “And it’s, everyone hates everybody. It’s terrible.”
He further stated this is the reason why he wants to address such issues whenever he gets an opportunity. Additionally, Schwarzenegger credited his Austrian roots for his mindset.
Take a neutral stand
Recalling his run in the political arena, Schwarzenegger claimed he never sided with either the Republicans or Democrats, nor villainized them. Arnie believes it has something to do with being birthed and raised in Austria. He claims that his motherland has always been a neutral country, and so has Switzerland, which is where his mindset stemmed from.
He continued that they don’t align themselves with anyone. “And I think that the very fact of doing that, and just having it be one of those major cities that has the UN there, where people come together and they have discussions, and meet, because the more there’s dialogue, the more we can solve problems. I think that’s what it is all about,” the 75-year-old concluded.
